Alexandre Dumas, fils (1824-1895) is a French writer and dramatist, the son of Alexandre Dumas. His father was also a famous novelist and mother was a dressmaker. Dumas got a good education and started writing at early age. He is well-known mostly for the novel "The Lady of the Camellias" written in 1848. A young courtesan Marie Duplessis inspired Dumas to create this novel. In 1853 Giuseppe Verdi wrote his opera "La traviata" based on it. "The Lady of the Camellias" describes the love story between Armand Duval and Marguerite Gautier, a courtesan, who suffered from tuberculosis. Armand met her in a theatre and fell in love immediately. He bagged Marguerite to leave her life as a courtesan and stay with him in the countryside. What difficulties will they face? Read the novel to know it.
